The 6th Ocean Park Conservation Day
|
The Sixth Ocean Park Conservation Day was held at Ocean Park Conservation Square on 13 January 2001. In this event, Ocean Park Conservation Foundation (OPCF) reported the progress and achievements on both research and public awareness programs in the past year, and announced the next year plan.

Guests of the Day, including Mr. Po Chung, OBE, JP (the OPCF Trustee Chairman), Dr Thomas Jefferson and Ms Suzanne M. Gendron (OPCF co-directors), the Hon. Mrs. Selina Chow, JP (Chairman of Hong Kong Tourist Association Board of Management), Dr. Wong Fook-Yee (Assistant Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department), and Edison Chen (OPCF Education Ambassador Millennium), attended and officiated a meaningful ceremony, which symbolized the conservation of ocean.

Ocean Park Corporation has devoted continuous support to OPCF by designating the second Saturday of each January as the Ocean Park Conservation Day and donating the gate proceeds of the day to the Foundation.

|
During the Conservation Day, several game booths were set in Ocean Park for the purpose of delivering the message of marine conservation to both the public and the invited students. Winners of "The Most environmentally-friendly Prize' and "The Most Innovative Prize" from the Game Booth Competition were selected by the Guests of Honour at the end of the ceremony.
