Conserve Our Nature Charity Dinner 2006

To celebrate the establishment of Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong (OPCFHK) for thirteen years and to raise funds for preserving wildlife and habitats in Asia, OPCFHK organized the first "Conserve Our Nature" Charity Dinner on 30 May 2006. More than 150 guests shared a joyful night with Dr. Patrick Ho, the Officiating Guest, and our Conservation Ambassador, Mr. Andy Lau at the Bayview Restaurant in the Ocean Park. The Foundation raised over HK$740,000 from the event.

One of the highlights of the dinner was the Ocean Theatre Show featured with Andy. As the Foundation's Conservation Ambassador for 13 years, Andy equipped himself as a trainer to perform a spectacular marine show with dolphins and sea lion at Ocean Theatre to thank the supporters of the Foundation. He was the first artist to perform on the stage of the Ocean Theatre!

Champagne Cable Car Ride

Guests were greeted by Ocean Park's Eagle Owl and Whiskers. Guests then enjoyed an elegant champagne ride with a breath-taking view of the South China Sea.

Cocktail at Terrace Café

With the magnificent sunset and cheerful music, guests experienced an amazing "Insect Encounter" with our "education ambassadors", orchid mantis, grass hoppers, and scorpions at Terrace Cafe.

Guided Tours to Sea Jelly Spectacular and Atoll Reef

Guests were invited to join an exclusive Behind-the-Scene Tour of Sea Jelly Spectacular and to enjoy a guided Atoll Reef tour.

Fine Dining at Bayview Restaurant

The dinner was kicked off by Ms Judy Chen, the Foundation's Deputy Chair and Dr. Patrick Ho, the Secretary for Home Affairs. Both of them gave opening speeches.

Dr. Gray A Williams, Honorary Director of The Swire Institute of Marine Science, Department of Ecology and Biodiversity, The University of Hong Kong, was invited on-stage with his students, who participated in University Sponsorship Programme in Wildlife Conservation sponsored by OPCFHK, to share their experiences and gains from the programme.

The response of charity auction was overwhelming and over $380,000 was raised for the 9 auction items. Our Conservation Ambassador, Andy also sponsored a prize and hosted the first-part of the auction which heightened the atmosphere of the night.

Approaching to the end of the dinner, Dr. Allan Zeman, Chairman of Ocean Park, Professor Nora Tam, Chairman of OPCFHK and Ms Suzanne M Gendron, Foundation Director, thanked all for coming and concluded the dinner. Souvenirs were given to guests to thank for their support.
