In light of recent media reports about OPCFHK's role in research studies on marine mammals, we would like to assure the public that the Foundation was not and will not be involved in funding studies specifically to support Ocean Park's business purposes.
As an independent charitable trust, OPCFHK has in place a scientific advisory committee* comprised of 23 independent and respected scientists to review each project proposal before any funding commitment is made. Since inception, we have funded over 200 projects that support the conservation of endangered marine and terrestrial mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and other wildlife.
Over 100 local university students have also benefited from an ongoing Foundation program aimed at nurturing the next generation of conservationists by providing them with valuable fieldwork experience.
OPCFHK is committed to advocating, facilitating and participating in the conservation of biodiversity, with an emphasis on projects in Asia, through education and research.
