16th Ocean Park Conservation Day
OPCFHK celebrated the 16th Ocean Park Conservation Day on 8 and 9 January 2011. We have chosen "Colours of Water" as the theme to highlight the importance of protecting the habitat of Chinese white dolphins and conserving water resources for the benefit of both humans and nature. We would like to thank Ocean Park to donate the admission revenue of 8 January 2011 to support our Asian aquatic conservation efforts.

Dr. Allan Zeman (Right 2), Chairman of Ocean Park, and Mr. Tom Mehrmann (Right 1), Chief Executive of Ocean Park, presented a cheque representing the entire sum of Ocean Park's admission revenue for 8 January to Ms Judy Chen (Left 2), Chair of OPCFHK and Ms Suzanne Gendron (Left 1), Director of OPCFHK, as donation in support of conservation efforts.
 
Celebration Ceremony
OPCFHK was delighted to have Mr. Edward Yau, JP (Left 4), Secretary for the Environment, Mr. Wei Pingying (Left 1), Vice General Director of Guangdong Sea and Rivers Conservation Association and Mr. David Fong (Right 2) from the Hip Shing Hong Group of Companies joining us this year.

Government, private sector, NGOs from Guangdong and Hong Kong – all join hands for a greener tomorrow.
Ms Judy Chen, OPCFHK Chair thanked Mr. Edward Yau, Secretary for the Environment of HKSAR, for Environment Bureau's continuous support to OPCFHK's conservation work. Ms Judy Chen, OPCFHK Chair, presented a framed copy of the Cooperation Framework Agreement to Mr. Wei Pingying, Vice General Director of Guangdong Sea and Rivers Conservation Association, signifying the strengthened cooperation and sharing of information and experience to enhance conservation efforts between Hong Kong and Guangdong.
 
Foundation Chair Ms Judy Chen thanked Mr. David Fong, Managing Director of Hip Shing Hong Group of Companies to be our Title Sponsor, bringing the creative graffiti element to conservation.

Chinese White Dolphin Drawing Competition
- Prize Presentation Ceremony and Exhibition
The first cross-border drawing competition on Chinese white dolphin was concluded with a prize presentation ceremony on Conservation Day. The competition received over 6,200 entries from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and 72 awards were presented on Conservation Day.
Guangdong – Primary Group prize presentation by Mr. Wei Pingying, Vice General Director of Guangdong Sea and Rivers Conservation Association Macao – Secondary Group prize presentation by Mr. Poon, Department of Gardens and Green Areas, Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR.
Hong Kong – Open Group prize presentation by Mr. Edmond Lam, Acting Assistant Director, HKSAR's Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department The awarded drawings were exhibited in Ocean Park and will be displayed in other public areas in Hong Kong, followed by Guangdong and Macao
   
Graffiti - Display and Workshop
Sponsored by Hip Shing Hong Group of Companies and supported by Hong Kong Kai-fong Welfare Association Social Service Centre, a 30-meter long graffiti wall was displayed at Ocean Park to promote environmental protection. Created by four young artists over nine days, the graffiti depicted how industrial and urban activities would destroy water resources, showing why environment protection is urgently needed.

Wildlife Conservation Booths by Local Green Groups
Seven green groups joined hands to promote wildlife conservation on 8 and 9 January: AFCD on marine biodiversity in Hong Kong, BLOOM Association on shark conservation, Eco-education and Resources Centre on seahorse conservation, Hong Kong Bird Watching Society on bird conservation, Ocean Park Hong Kong on horseshoe crab conservation, WWF on sustainable seafood and OPCFHK on our wildlife conservation efforts. The booths provided interesting information and interactive games to promote wildlife conservation messages.
