This year, OPCFHK expanded the Conservation Day to the Conservation Weekend on 19 and 20 January 2008. During the two days, families enjoyed the fun and green elements that the game booths and exhibitions conveyed. Ocean Park has generously donated the full day gate revenue of HK$2.27 million to the Foundation to support its panda conservation efforts.

To highlight the importance of conservation and environmental protection, the Home Affairs Department invited OPCFHK to organize a 200-days Olympic countdown ceremony with the theme "Be Green and Conserve" on 20 January 2008 in Ocean Park.

Primary and secondary schools from "Hand-in-Hand, Conserve the Wildlife" Award Scheme 2007/08 designed and produced six game booths. The winner of the "Most Popular Booth" was HK & KLN CCPA Ma Chung Sum Secondary School and The Church of Christ in China Tam Lee Lai Fun Memorial Secondary School won the prize for the "Most Environmental-friendly Booth".
