Runners, community participants and guests gathered at the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong (OPCFHK) Charity Run to raise funds in support of OPCFHK’s conservation efforts.
(Hong Kong, 25 January 2026) Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong (OPCFHK)’s annual charity run concluded in high spirits today, attracting over 2,300 runners of all ages and dedicated volunteers for a good cause. This year’s event, held at Ocean Park along with the Ocean Park Conservation Day under the theme “Embracing Nature Diversity Together”, immersed runners in the scenic views of the Park as well as fun-filled activities. A series of interactive booths invited everyone to learn about the survival threats faced by endangered species, including giant pandas, corals, Chinese white dolphins, freshwater turtles and yellow-breasted buntings, rallying support for ecological conservation in Hong Kong and Asia.
“OPCFHK has championed many initiatives for the protection of wildlife and biodiversity in Hong Kong and across Asia for the past 30 years, while fostering public awareness of environmental and nature conservation. Since 2015, we have organised the charity race not only to raise funds for the Foundation, but also to deepen public understanding of the importance of ecological conservation. This is increasingly crucial as the world faces severe impacts from pollution and climate change, making conservation more urgent than ever. We hope more people will join us and take immediate actions to safeguard biodiversity and our precious natural resources,” said Ivan Wong, Trustee Member of OPCFHK and Chief Executive of Ocean Park Corporation.
Since its expansion in 2005, OPCFHK has allocated over HK$120 million to fund 604 research projects on cetaceans, giant pandas and many other species.
The OPCFHK Charity Run aimed to bring people together through running, channelling collective energy into conservation action. Race categories included a 5km Timed Challenge (men’s or women’s individual), a 4km Fitness Run (individual or family), and a 1km Little Hero Run (family). Participants became “conservation heroes” and raced through Ocean Park. This year, the 5km Timed Challenge and 4km Fitness Run featured the Pacific Pier en route, allowing participants to greet the Park’s adorable sea lions and seals along the way. Additionally, the 1km Little Hero Run featured five game challenges and traversed the Giant Panda Adventure, where participants visited giant pandas Ying Ying and Le Le, and their twin cubs Jia Jia and De De. All participants received medals and souvenirs upon completion of their race route.
